Steps to Success: At the Event

Share the theme with Contributors.

On the day of the event, be prepared to tell event participants about the theme and why it was chosen. If your Project Team decided to use Community Tables, remember to invite Contributors to explore the resources there. Contributors are curious because they want to understand their connection to the theme and how they can best participate--otherwise they wouldn’t have come to the event! 

When interacting with Contributors, it’s important to keep an open mind about how they understand the theme and express connections to it. Not every story community members bring will necessarily fit the theme as defined by your team, but it’s important to be as inclusive and flexible as you can. You never know what wonderful things you may learn!
